Sycamore - Trinity River Bank

After an August 2018 storm, there were a number of large trees that had washed up on the edge of the Trinity River, a little east of Bryant Irvin.

My friend Bill and I pulled what we could and this turned out to be some of the most beautiful wood I’ve gotten to date. The outside bark grew in a twisting way, which gives each edge a different pattern. Additionally, the spalting on this tree was perfect - nice wavy, black spalting lines in random patterns, but none of the weakness that exists if it turns to a true fungus.
