Oak - Neighborhoods surrounding White Rock Lake
During the storm that hit east Dallas on June 9, 2019, the high winds caused the downing of hundreds, if not thousands, of very large, old-growth trees.
In the neighborhoods surrounding White Rock Lake on the east side - specifically Lakewood and Ridgewood Park - I was able to gather a significant amount of Oak that was otherwise left for the city to send to their mulch piles.
In speaking to many homeowners about their downed trees, they were all still in a state of shock that these trees - many nearly 100 feet tall - were now stacked in piles in front of their homes just waiting for the City of Dallas to come by at some point in the coming months.
The residents were encouraged that I was taking what I could of their trees, and I was encouraged to see their satisfaction that these trees - that were part of their homes for so long - would be repurposed and utilized in a way that could last.
